"Dear Future Family:

My name is Estelle but everyone here calls me Sweets. I’ve been in foster care a bit now and thought maybe if I used my own words to let you know what type of family would be best for me, it would help find my forever home. While my foster Mama and Papa love me very much, they can’t keep all their foster kids and know there is someone out there that will give me the most wonderful life.

I can’t really explain how my life was up until Febuary 2021. All I can say is that I was left in the freezing cold and snow, in the parking lot at a vet’s office. I was out there for a while before someone realized I was there and brought me inside. The nice vet people took care of me and then I came to my foster home. It was SO cold and I’m completely blind so I was very scared.

Because of this and probably other things in my former home, Foster Ma says I have some slight “issues” but that they are “totally workable.”

I take time to warm up to new people. All new people. I may even try to nip if you rush me or get in my face. At least in the beginning. I get over it pretty quickly and now I have no issues in my foster home, but if we’re being honest, it will take a little time and some snacks before I trust you. Ma and Papa have found what works and is happy to share those secrets with my new family. For the above reason, it’s best I’m in a lower key home without small kids.

Once I trust you, I’m a love bug and want to be next to you when you’re home. My foster Mama carries me around on her hip and I sit with them on the sofa. To be honest, I LOVE men. I still love my foster mama but I really LOVE men. I get SO excited when my foster Papa comes home.

I’m housetrained! Foster Mama says I’m really good at using the appropriate place to potty. I also go UP stairs but down isn’t something I’m great at. I get scared because of that blind thing again.

I get nervous outside in new places and freeze! Now that I’m comfortable, I go out and do my business but I prefer to just hang out inside or in your lap. I’m not one for long walks or adventures. I’m more of a homebody.

Ma also says I’m really good at the groomer! I do need eye drops a few times a day and don’t like them very much BUT, as usual, snacks make everything A-OKAY!
I’m also good with cats and dogs. I don’t mind them at all. I also don’t bark, sleep all night and eat all my food with no issues.

I guess I better wrap this up but if you’re looking for a low key, shy lady like myself, send in an application. I’d really like to find my forever home soon.

Estelle has received a full veterinary workup. Estelle is blind! She recently had double enucleation surgery to remove her eyes due to chronic and previous untreated dry eye. Since her eyes were of no use anyway, she is much happier and living pain-free without them! Because she can't see well, she can nip if startled, especially in new situations. Because of this, we think Estelle would do best in a home without small children. She has been spayed and had a dental cleaning and extractions. She also had a mammary tumor removed at the same time. Biopsy results showed that the tumor was cancerous but that it was fully excised so there's little chance of recurrence. 

Estelle is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She is also negative for heart worm and lymes disease. Interested in adopting her?
