Pug x Pekingese mix

Meet Ernest! This cutie pie was rescued just before Christmas 2020 after he found himself on the euthanasia list of a crowded Louisiana shelter. Ernest was in awful shape... his eyes were crusted closed, he was missing most of his fur, and he had heartworms. After many months of TLC and vet care, Ernest is healthy and ready for a family of his own! We have been told he is a "Puginese" which is a fancy term for a Pug x Pekingese mix. He is estimated to be 4-5 years old and weighs in at 19lbs. His hair is longer than normal for Pugs and he has the most adorable underbite. Ernest's foster mom says, " Ernest is a love. What a change he has gone through since I started fostering him on Christmas Eve! He is charming and lovable and just wants to be with his person. Ernest is crate trained and house broken. His black coat has grown out, is soft and silky and he loves to be petted. He is not a heavy shedder. Ernest likes being talked to and acts as if he knows everything that is said to him. He interacts as well as he can without being able to talk, with cute little doggy grunts and moans. He has gotten along fine with all 3 of my dogs but seems to really prefer being with me so I think he would be happy as an only dog or with others. He hasn't shown any aggressive or dominant behaviors. Whoever is fortunate to make Ernest a member of their family will not be disappointed." Ernest is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and current on monthly heartworm/flea medication. Upon rescue he did test positive for heartworms but has completed treatment and is now heartworm negative, yay! He does still struggle with itchy skin but ii is well managed on Bravecto and Cytopoint injections.
