Erica Pit Bull Terrier & American Bulldog Mix Cedar Rapids, IA

Honestly, Erica is one of my favorite dogs here at the shelter. If I was looking for another dog to add to my pack, it would be this dog. Erica is a little bit older. Maybe not a senior yet but closing in on it. She came in as a stray, so we are estimating her to be around 6 or 7 years old. Past being a puppy or a teenager and everything that goes with those phases. Mature but plenty of years left that she deserves to live out in a loving home.
She is a Pitbull mix weighing 57 lbs. and appears to have had a few litters. Maybe part of the reason she is here but those days are over. I love Erica’s calm and easy-going demeanor. I would describe her energy level as low to medium. You can get a good look at this girl if you watch the video on Petfinder of her off leash exploring our exercise yard. She is very friendly and affectionate and is content to just hang out with you. She already knows the commands sit, down, shake, and comes running when you call her. She loves her treats of course and takes them gently from your fingers.
She can be a little strong walking on just a collar and leash, but we would provide you with a harness at the time of adoption which would help considerably. I believe she has had house training. She was quick to take care of her business once outside and onto the grass. She was in someone’s home for several years folks and I believe it’s safe to assume she has had training. Please be patient for a short while as she adjusts to a new home and environment.
If you already have a dog in your home, there would be a meet & greet at the shelter.
