Meet Eric

Eric is a 1-year-old pup who loves to be loved! He is the definition of a Velcro dog and is at his happiest when he is by your side. A wonderful 62-pound blend of playful, calm, energetic, and cuddly!

Eric has grown leaps and bounds in his foster home. He came to his foster home with feelings of anxiety and little knowledge of social interactions. Through positive reinforcement, patience, time, and a daily dose of Fluoxetine, Eric has begun to blossom into his true self - a gentle, happy, and wonderful companion who loves the new life he is experiencing!

Window gazing is a fond pastime of Eric’s, and he loves watching the world go by. He is very attentive and becomes incredibly excited when there are critters roaming the yard, so at this time, we are recommending no cats in the home. Also, because he will let out some loud oofs and barks that carry in a room when he is visually or audibly startled and thrives in a quiet, low-traffic environment, shared walls are not a match for him.

Eric has been incredibly affectionate and gentle with respectful, dog-savvy kids. He does prefer to have a slow introduction to new folks, but once he warms up, he will love you deeply! He also deeply loves to rearrange your shoes, tote paper bags around the house, and do big Yoga stretches across your feet awaiting belly scratches.

Toys, fluffy blankets, and playing with a tennis ball – all his favorites! He is still not fully aware of his size when it comes to cuddling, which is another one of his favorites. Be ready for a large, fluffy, and loving lap dog!

Some of Eric’s anxiety comes from dogs in his surrounding environment. He has been working diligently with his foster on leash reactivity/manners, and for him to continue his journey to his best self, those efforts need to be continued in his forever home. Eric does currently live with a confident, calm large breed dog. He has shown Eric the ins and outs of being a companion dog. If there is a large breed, poised dog in the home, he would most likely do okay with multiple, slow meets.

His trainer is highly recommending a fenced-in yard for Eric (not a tie-out candidate). He has begun to see the yard as a peaceful environment, feeling comfortable hanging outside (preferably with his humans nearby!) while no stressors are present.

Eric is truly a gem and an amazing companion. He cannot wait to find his forever home where he will be showered with love, offered stability and as much time with his human(s) as possible, provided with continued training and a calm environment, and advocated for as he continues his journey to living the best life ever!
