Meet Excellent Enzo-PA!

*AGE: 11 month old Bernedoodle (born February 2020)

*WEIGHT: 40 lbs.

*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical secure privacy fence is required. No electronic fence or e-collar will be allowed as we feel this would not set him up for success.

*COAT TYPE: beautiful soft, wavy, lower shedding coat. His new family should be prepared to brush his coat regularly and have him groomed every 6-8 weeks or so. This is approximately $100 per groom.

*ENERGY LEVEL: high puppy energy. He needs quite a bit of daily exercise to expend his energy. He loves to run, play, walk and romp in the backyard with the foster dogs.

*DOGS: He lived with several dogs in his prior home and was fine with all of them except the older anxious smaller dog who would fight with him and he would fight back. In his foster home he does fine with dogs of all sizes although he can act dominant around some smaller dogs. If his new home has another dog, it should be a dog that is at least his size. He would be fine as an only dog if he receives a lot of attention and exercise from his family.

*CATS: lived with cats in previous home and did fine. May chase the cats.

*KIDS: no experience with children. Due to this inexperience, we feel a home where the children are at least 12 years old and know how to act around large dogs would be in his best interest.

*CAR: likes to go for rides and once in the car is a pretty quiet back seat rider

*CRATE: He was not crated in his previous home as he didn’t like the crate at all. In his foster home he is crated for a few hours when we run errands and he is fine. It could be that he is OK with being crated in his foster home as he is crated next to his favorite foster sibling. We don’t know how he will be in a crate if his new family doesn’t have another dog crated next to him. He would not like to be in the crate for many hours and would much prefer to be out with his people. He sleeps on the floor in his fosters’ room at night.

*HOUSE TRAINED: not fully house trained. He will need a family committed to working with him on a schedule to get him house trained.

*LEASH: He needs more training on leash walking. He gets very excited at the beginning and pulls but as the walk goes on, he gets better about walking next to you.

Enzo is a 11 month old medium-sized 40 lb Bernedoodle puppy who was surrendered to IDOG by his owners who were heartbroken to give him up. The older small dog in his prior home was anxious and nervous around Enzo which sometimes caused high tension which would then turn into a dog fight. They felt Enzo would be happier in a different home environment.

Enzo is a sweet, happy, exuberant, friendly puppy who loves people. He wants to be with you all the time and is like Velcro to you – right by your side. He wants all the attention and gets a bit jealous when other dogs get attention…he wants all the love! He just always wants to be with you, near you, close to you. He gets so excited when he sees you coming. He seems to love men too. He’s right in the middle of the pack going nuts when my husband comes toward him. He wants to be protective of his foster mom more than dominant over the other dogs.

He has a strong personality, not submissive and loves to do any activity a puppy does. He needs a fenced yard – he is adventurous and loves to sniff, romp and explore the outdoors. He also likes to burn his energy outside – he is the best pup once he gets his energy expended. He would do well with an active family, long daily walks and lots of play!

Enzo loves people so much that he will jump up on you to say hi. His foster family is working with him on this and more training will help him with this. He is a physical and exuberant puppy and will bump and flop around and may mouth you to get your attention. For these reasons, we will he would be most successful in a home with kids 12+ years old. He is a follower and takes his cues from the foster dogs in the house.

He would love to be in a family where his family is home a lot during the day so he can get attention and exercise. He would not do well being alone all day.

Enzo does bark to alert you – more of a protector-type bark and not excessively. If he goes to a home where there is a lot of activity for him to see out the window, he will likely bark more.

Enzo is a professional stuffed toy destroyer – he loves chew toys and has been found to steal shoes! He is very smart and food motivated which makes it easy to train him as he learns quickly. He takes treats nicely and loves them!

He loves to play fetch and is learning to play a little tug with the others. He takes commands easily. He is a puppy yet and easy to work with and he really wants to please you.He is not fully house-trained yet so his new family should be prepared for this. They will need to keep an eye on him as he doesn’t know how to let you know when he needs to go outside.

When he is excited and you reach for his collar he spins his head around real fast – we don’t think this is an aggressive movement but more curious like ‘what are you doing?”. The foster family keeps all the dogs separated during meal time to keep things calm so Enzo has been in eating in his crate while in his foster home. They haven’t seen any resource guarding/fight behavior. He does more of a barking grumble when he doesn’t like something.

He is just a doll, and a sweetheart and we love him to death. He will make a great addition to the right family!

Enzo is neutered, up to date on vaccinates, microchipped, crate trained and working on house training. He is heartworm negative and on heartworm/flea and tick preventatives.
