Meet Emmy

Emmy is around a year and a half. Emmy was abandoned, along with three other dogs, when her family moved. Little did the shelter know, she was pregnant and very soon after gave birth. She has spent the last couple of months caring for her babies and has done a wonderful job. She is a great mom, but she is almost ready to go to a family of her own. As one might guess, Emmy was very stressed being in a new and strange environment, with the lives of her puppies on her young shoulders. She was very afraid of people. Thankfully, she was welcomed into a foster home where her foster mom is very patient, and slowly, the walls are coming down for Emmy and she is learning to trust. She was just introduced to her resident 4-legged companion, a wonderful German Shepherd. Their first off leash encounter, it was chase, play, and chase. Emmy is a mom, but she is very much still a puppy herself. She needs a home with a very patient family, a family with another confident dog that can help her continue to come out of her shell. She has been working on her potty training and is doing very well. She sees her crate as her safe place to be. Walking on a leash is something that is very new to her and her new family should be ready to take it in baby steps. Emmy may take a while to warm up, but when she does, she loves to cuddle and snuggle. She would love a family that can give her the time and space to learn that she is safe and has a family that she can trust. She needs for her canine partner to be a playful one too. She loves to play.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.

Our adoption process begins with completing an application on-line. A phone screening will soon follow, and lastly a home visit will be conducted by our volunteers.
