Emmie is a young 8-year-old, 60-pound dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She's loyal, affectionate, and full of fun-a "cool dog" through and through! Whether she's out for a walk, lounging on the couch, or playing with her toys, Emmie brings joy and warmth wherever she goes.<br/><br/>On leash, Emmie starts out strong but quickly settles into a fairly manageable, steady pace. She loves toys-especially tough ones built for strong chewers-and often entertains herself by happily gnawing on them while splooting on the floor or curling up on a soft bed. After playtime, she enjoys stretching out beside her person for some quiet cuddle time. She sometimes "talks" with soft whines and snorts, showing off her adorable personality.<br/><br/>Emmie loves meeting new people and has had many positive experiences in public. She doesn't jump unless there's a treat involved, and even then, she's gentle. She's very treat-motivated, takes snacks politely, and is incredibly smart. Emmie enjoys training and already knows sit, shake, lay down, and seems to understand stay and come. She'd love an adopter who continues her training-it's one of her favorite ways to bond.<br/><br/>After a good play session, Emmie can often be found sunbathing and soaking up the warmth. She's nonreactive to other dogs on walks and can be safely walked in public, but she's listed as an only dog due to food guarding with other pets. She may even be able to have some doggie friends (probably no dog parks), but food needs to be left out of the equation. <br/><br/>Emmie is listed for an adult-only home-not because she guards her toys, but because she gets excited and rushes toward them, which could be too much for little hands. She's been good meeting older children in public but might accidentally knock smaller ones over.<br/><br/>She's a pro in the car and would love to join you for adventures, road trips, or simple errands around town.
