Emmett Belgian Shepherd / Malinois & American Bulldog Mix Washburn, MO

Emmett is a handsome boy! His dob is 06/20/2017 and he's a brown and black Belgian Shepherd Malinois/American Bulldog mix. He was brought to us when his owners could no longer care for him. He has spent most of his life as a mostly-outdoor dog with other dogs, in a home where he suffered from a lot of separation anxiety. Unfortunately for Emmett, his people in the past have failed him. Emmett needs a person that's going to do right by him! He is motivated by affection and toys, but is very picky about his treats. He can be a little mischievous and likes to see what he can get away with, so he needs a firm leader who can spend a lot of time working with him. We have seen that he learns quickly with basic training. We think he could also learn by example with some well-mannered dog siblings. It has been observed that he rarely barks, and when he does it's quiet and sort of raspy. Emmett is often found observing things going on around him. He does not get along with cats, chickens, or other small animals, as he has a decent amount of prey drive. He loves to follow his favorite people around and get scratches, and his favorite game is wrestling. He does seem to be house-trained, and does fine for short periods of time in a large kennel.
