Meet Exceptional Emmet-MA, a wonderful male F1 Mini Goldendoodle!

Emmet-MA is located with his family in Upton, MA.
Please read ALL the information in his listing before applying for him. If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for him, please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application.

We will review your application and let you know if you made our short list of applicants for Emmet. We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety and welfare of our dogs - your understanding is appreciated.

We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for - we do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog. Our adoption process may take 2-4 weeks.

You must be approved to adopt before we will schedule a meet and greet. We expect approved adopters to visit him in his home within a short period of time of being approved to adopt him. We do not transport out dogs. Our adoption process involves vet and personal reference checks, phone interviews, a home visit, an adoption contract and an adoption fee.

*AGE: 7 years old (born November 2013)

*WEIGHT: 28 lbs.

*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence is preferred as he thrives when he has access to a yard – he loves to run. No electronic fence or e-collar will be allowed as we feel this would not set him up for success.

*COAT TYPE: curly, low-shedding. His new family should be prepared to brush his coat regularly and for the expense of having him groomed every 6-8 weeks or so. This is approximately $100 per groom.

*ENERGY LEVEL: moderate – he has a lot of energy and acts like a puppy!

*DOGS: he has not lived with other dogs but enjoys playing with them at daycare when he has attended in the past. He is usually on the more submissive side with other dogs.

*CAT: no exposure to cats

*KIDS: 15+. He would prefer a calm environment as too much energy and activity around him adds to his anxiety.

*CAR: great!

*CRATE: not crated as he doesn’t like the crate and he does fine when left alone.

*HOUSE TRAINED: yes!

*APARTMENT: He would not do well in a shared wall type of home as he barks quite a bit – at outside noises, inside noises, car doors closing, car horns. Hopefully a calmer home, more exercise and an established routine will help with his barking.

*LEASH: he likes going for walks but needs continued training as he does pull on the leash. A head halter may be helpful in training him on leash.

Exceptional Emmet is a 7 year old 28 lb. F1b male mini-Goldendoodle who is looking for a new home. He is with his family in Upton, MA. His family loves him very much but their toddler makes him very anxious and they feel he would be happier in a home without young children.

Emmet would love to be the center of someone’s world and get lots of attention and exercise. He would love a calmer home. He is a very happy dog and very loving. Emmet is always welcoming his people home with a big smile and lots of kisses. He is the best cuddler. And there’s no better copilot for long rides in the car. He loves to play fetch and chase.

He gets anxious when there is a lot of activity and noise around him. He will bark quite a bit and jumps on people to say hi and he pulls on the leash when walking. Emmet attended puppy training classes when he was younger but he didn’t do that well. He will sit and lay down if there are no distractions around.

He used to attend daycare before COVID closed it and he did fine. He would come home exhausted. He has never lived with another dog and would prefer to be near his people. When approaching other dogs, he will probably bark at them from far away and then be timid when he gets closer.

Emmet has general anxiety and that can show up as barking, jumping up and sitting on you. A calmer home with some training and an established routine would likely help him with these issues.
Emmet is neutered, vaccinated, and house crate trained. He is heartworm negative and on heartworm/flea and tick preventatives.
