Emmelou Yorkshire Terrier & Chihuahua Mix Palatine, IL

Hi, over here! Yup, that little peanut is me…Emmelu, a tiny 3 & 1/2 year old Yorkie/Chihuahua mix weighing only 4 & 1/2 pounds. I was given up to Animal Control with hair loss due to fleas, but was fortunate enough to get help through SCCR — they are now working to find a great forever home.

My perfect home would be one where someone is home most of the time and not in an apartment or home with shared walls. See, I make up for my tiny size with super loud barking and whining when left alone. Even though I am sooooo cute and sweet, I will need someone willing to work on housebreaking (I'm making progress!) and being left alone. You know, I’ve been through lots of change.

I am fine in my crate overnight as long as it is next to my foster's bed. I would like to be in her bed, but her resident pups have made it clear I am not welcome there. During the day, I nap under my foster's desk on the hard floor rather than in one of the many dog beds. 

One thing I absolutely LOVE are walks and I can go for long walks because I am great on leash. I am also totally fine with meeting new dogs while leashed. I like other dogs, not to really play with, but as cuddle buddies.

Quite honestly, I do not have a mean or aggressive bone in my body! What I do have is tail-wagging, people-loving, snuggle-lapdog abilities that just enhance my adorability.

If we do not receive any communication from you, the dog may be adopted out at our event prior to 12 pm if the perfect home comes along. :-)

The breed or breed mix listed for each dog is simply a guess. The profile software program requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. However, visual breed identification is unreliable. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog’s individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess. Dogs are individuals.
