Meet Emma D3725
One of Emma’s favorite things to do is be outside on walks. She will even wake from a nap upon hearing her leash being picked up. The beagle in her loves to walk around and sniff new things. She walks pretty well on a leash until she gets excited about something she sees or smells, then she tends to pull on her leash.
Emma loves a comfortable place to take a nap as long as it is near her person. She loves bones (see the video to see exactly how much). She also likes stuffies. In fact, she has the remnants of one that she has had for a very long time. It is no longer stuffed, and no longer even in a recognizable shape. It is now just a hunk of fabric that used to be a hedgehog. She brought it with her from her former home, and wants to have it with her. She carries it around from place to place.
Emma’s absolute favorite thing to do is EAT! This is very evident by the fact that she is currently overweight. In her last home, she lived with a toddler that enjoyed sharing food with Emma and she took advantage of grabbing unguarded food any available chance. Emma is currently on a weight loss plan that includes weight management dog food, fresh vegetables for snacks, and exercise. She is off to a good start and has lost 2 pounds in the first two weeks in her foster home.
Besides the fact that little people are good for sharing their food, they are not a good match for Emma. They move too quickly and don’t always know how to be respectful toward dogs. As Emma has gotten older, she has little patience for rough playing from young children. For this reason, Emma would do best living in a home with older, respectful children.
Emma does not use a crate. Emma is respectful of her environment and can be trusted to be left alone with limited roam as long as proper precautions are taken to remove any temptations. She is good being left uncrated for hours at a time.
Emma is potty trained on a schedule. If left too long, however, she may have an accident in the house. She doesn’t seem to have a way to tell anyone when she needs to go outside. Emma prefers to sleep in the same room with her human and usually chooses to either sleep on a dog bed or under the human bed.
Emma is not an excessive barker. She will bark when someone first comes into the house, but she stops quickly. She enjoys car rides. She is very easy to bathe. She needs regular brushing. She tolerates having her nails trimmed.
