Meet Emma

Won’t you say hello to 3-year-old Emma? This sweet girl was literally dropped off from a car in front of her foster mom’s house. She had clearly just finished weaning a litter of pups and was infested with fleas and ticks to the point that she had chewed and scratched off patches of fur all over her body. She smelled like a barn, was filthy and matted, dehydrated, hungry and exhausted.

She came in the house reluctantly, was terribly frightened but very friendly and loving. She was given a bath, food, and water and after a few days, she started to perk up. Since then, Emma has been to the groomer and the vet. She’s looking and feeling much better! She was introduced slowly to the resident lab, and after a bit of a rocky start they’re getting along, however, Emma may do better as the only dog/pet in the household.

Emma knows some commands but will benefit greatly from obedience training. She’s a smart girl, but like a lot of labs, she can be stubborn. Her recall is not that great and her greetings include jumping up on people. She also will bolt out the door if given a chance.

Daily exercise is a must for her! She still has a lot of puppy energy to burn. She loves chew toys and rope toys. Sometimes she thinks clothes on the floor are toys, so it would be important that socks and things are not left for her to get to.

Emma loves riding in the car and behaves very well. She might do well around little kids; however, she doesn’t know her own size and sometimes plays rough and will knock them down. If she’s not ready for you to stop petting her she’ll nudge you with her nose. She is a very loving and playful pup that will make a good companion and watch dog.

Emma does not sleep in a crate and seems to be fine in the house without needing to be contained. She may, or may not, like to be in a crate as that is not known at this time.
