Meet Emma

Meet Emma!

She is guessed to be about 5 months old and 33lbs. Parents are unknown. Her sister Anna looks like a cattle dog. She looks more like a lab mix. Your guess is as good as ours.

The foster in Texas says "They are both very friendly with other dogs but will bark at other dogs when walking on a leash. They show absolutely zero signs of aggression towards her 4 small dogs. Emma is more active. They both enjoy being loved and playing. However they are not overly active nor will they jump on you. They haven't had any accidents in their kennel. They play really well with each other too. She said they have fostered many pups and these by far are their favorite"

She has just arrived here to NW Indiana and we have her at our vet for an evaluation. We will post more about her when we learn more.

Origin Story:
Both her and her sibling Anna were taken in by a concerned citizen in Houston. The one photo of them outside was how they were found.
The neighbor of the previous owners knew they were going to call animal control to pick them up. They later said if animal control wouldn't come they would just let them go to the streets. The last update we had received was "She just got a call that the neighbor keeps hitting them and if not picked up soon he might even kill them" She had went to social media for help. A lady saw the post and wanted to help so she went to pick them up. When the lady arrived at the home she snapped a photo of how they were kept.

Adoption Process:

- please fill out our adoption application: https://www.dayofthedogs.org/adoption-application

- one of our team members will get back to you.

- our dogs can be seen by appointment only after an approved application has been received.

- Adoption fee helps to cover spay/neuter, initial vaccines, rabies, initial worming, and microchip.

-We cannot place holds on our dogs. Please do not contact us until you are prepared to adopt.

NOTE: We are very good about updating the pet's profiles once adopted. So no need to write us to ask "Is he/she still available?" If the post is up, the dog is still available.

About Us:
Day of the Dogs is a 501c3 nonprofit that is dedicated to helping shelters increase live release. We coordinate 2 - 4 transports per month from TX, OK and AR to NW Indiana/Chicagoland area. We do direct adoptions ourselves out of Dyer, IN area and partner with 12 other rescues and shelters in both IL and IN that are willing to help southern pets in need.
We rely on donations to help fund our ongoing transports. Please donate if you can. Every dollar adds up and we are grateful for any help we can get: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/DayoftheDogs
