Meet Elvis
The King Has Entered the Building… and He’s Ready to Retire
For years, Elvis lived the ultimate Hound-dog life—roaming free, dodging capture like a four-legged rockstar, and (ahem) leaving behind a legacy of pups. But every legend reaches a moment when the spotlight fades, and it’s time to settle down.
One day, after a lifetime of evading well-meaning fans, Elvis just… sat down. No more running. No more sneaking meals from friendly neighbors. He was ready. And that’s when HSSM stepped in.
At five years old, Elvis is finally embracing a slower pace. He walks beautifully on a leash, taking in the world with a quiet curiosity. He’s friendly toward other dogs but isn’t the type to roughhouse or wrestle in your living room—he’s more of a laid-back companion, happy to simply be near his people. While we haven’t seen him around children firsthand, we suspect he’d make a great family dog. His behavior around cats is still a mystery.
And in a twist of fate worthy of a power ballad—despite his years of adventuring, Elvis is heartworm negative.
Now all he needs is a home to call his own. If you’re looking for a loyal, mild-mannered dog who’s finally ready to trade the open road for a warm couch, Elvis is waiting.
Elvis's $350 adoption fee includes neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip AND transport fee to a location near you. We currently have transportation to CT, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, VT, GA, and TN. Please email transport@hssm.org for more information on transports!

A staff member will reach out if your application is approved to discuss the adoption process. No fenced in yard required, and YES - we adopt to families with children! The adoption will not be final until the adoption contract is discussed and signed. Transports are arranged for specific dates, typically within 1-3 weeks of approving your application. Adopters will meet at a designated meeting spot to pick up their new companions. For further information, please first fill out the application referenced above.
