Meet Elmer – the sweetest little 30-pound Lab mix!

At just 1.5 years old, Elmer has a heart full of love but is still learning to trust people. He adores other dogs and finds comfort in their presence, but he’s still gaining confidence around humans. We believe Elmer spent most of his life as a stray with little human interaction, so he needs a patient and understanding home to help him continue coming out of his shell.

Elmer is fully potty and crate trained, and he absolutely loves playing with his doggy friends or working on a good chew toy. He’s making steady progress with his leash skills and thrives in a structured routine. His crate is his safe space, and a home that continues to use it will help him feel secure as he settles in.

Due to his past, Elmer does resource guard his food—but with simple management, like feeding him separately in his crate, this is easily handled, and he continues to thrive.

Watching Elmer experience love and stability for the first time has been incredible, and we know he’ll be an amazing companion for the right person. He even gets along great with cats!

Elmer is fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, and HW-. He needs at least one other dog in his forever home to help boost his confidence, and while a fenced yard would be a bonus, it’s not required.
