Meet Ellie!

Ellie is a high-energy, playful pup who’s been making incredible progress in her foster home. She’s a fantastic companion for long walks, hikes, and playtime at the dog park. Her enthusiasm for life is contagious, and she’s always ready for an adventure.

She has been doing very well with house training and reliably goes potty outside on walks. She has had a few accidents in the house, but she’s used the pee pad left in her main area. Ellie’s crate training has been excellent—she slept in her crate without issues when she first arrived, and even during the holidays, she stayed in a penned area at her foster family’s parents’ house and impressed everyone with her good behavior. She’s also improving on leash walking; she may pull at times but has shown great progress. She’s working on being gentler with humans, as she can get a little overexcited, but her playfulness is never aggressive.

Ellie gets along great with other dogs and thinks every dog should want to play with her. One of her foster siblings took some time to warm up to her, even barking at her frequently, but Ellie remained non-reactive. While she may overwhelm smaller dogs with her exuberance, she always means well. She hasn’t been around children much, but she’s friendly and eager to please, and with continued work on her mouthiness, she’ll do great. Ellie is fantastic with cats, treating them gently and playfully, much to their delight.

She doesn’t bark much, though she may let out a bark or two at strangers on walks. Toys are one of her biggest loves—she adores them all but tends to destroy them quickly. She loves snow and gets very excited when she sees it, though rain isn’t her favorite. Peanut butter is her ultimate treat, especially helpful during nail trims, and she’s been surprisingly cooperative despite being a bit wiggly.

One of Ellie’s cutest traits is her wild, floppy ears, which add to her irresistible charm. She quickly learned to sit and now loves to do it just to make her humans happy. Bath time can be a little scary for her, but she handles it well.

Ellie is continuing to work on staying calm when she gets excited and being a little gentler with humans. With her loving personality, enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn, Ellie will make a wonderful addition to an active and patient home ready to embrace her playful spirit.
