Meet Ellie ADOPTED:)
WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE: To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in.
Here is the Dog Application that you can copy and paste into a browser: https://fs17.formsite.com/waverlypetrescue/form028182466/index.html
Ellie was purchased as a puppy by an elderly man in Waterloo, Iowa. She was too much for him because she is very active and the family decided she needed a more active home. Ellie is up to date on shots, spayed, and heartworm negative. She is living in a foster home.
Ellie is about 1-1/2 years old. She is a total sweetheart and very friendly. She loves children and does great with them, Probably best in a home with older children because she might knock down a little one by accident. Ellie does well with other dogs. Ellie needs a home with no cats because she will go after them because she does not like cats.
Ellie has had little to no training so will need an experience dog home that has time and the patience to train her properly. She also has lots of energy so will need someone that can take her for walks and play with her. A fenced in yard is required to adopt Ellie and that yard will help her burn off some of the energy she has. She is mostly housetrained and her foster home is working on this with her. Might need more training in her forever home.
She is doing wonderful. She is a big love bug, and wants to be close to her people. When taking a nap yesterday I noticed she always had some part of her body touching me, and at times laid her head on my face. She is just wanting to be loved! Getting along well with our dogs so far. She seems just a bit underweight, but otherwise healthy. She did great with her bath this morning, for being so trusting with a new human, and tolerated me trimming the burr, and couple dried/ mats she had going on.
9/29/22 UPDATE: Ellie has been "mouthing" and at sometimes bites down a little to much, never to make a mark but it can sting a bit. It is during play, or when she is wanting to play, not in an aggressive manner at all. Her foster home is working on this with her. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com
All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $350 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
