UPDATE ABOUT "ELLIE" ---- A big THANK YOU to everyone who inquired about Ellie and/or sent in an application for her -- she has been very popular on Petfinder! Due to the overwhelming response to her posting, we simply don't have the time to respond to all of you, so we're posting her status here. Ellie is now in a three-week trial period with her new family. We sincerely appreciate everyone's interest in this wonderful little girl -- thank you so much! Please Like us on Facebook and follow our Petfinder page for more cuties to be posted soon!

We’d like to introduce you to sweet Ellie -- who is one lucky Lhasa pup! Back in the summer of 2020, she wandered into a kind homeowner’s yard during a terrible rain storm. Matted, scared, and confused, she needed help. The woman took her in, fed her, and groomed her – which was difficult because she had many pieces of radial tire tangled up in her hair and poking into her skin. Underneath all the matted mess was a sweetheart of a dog, whom the homeowner named Ellie.

Ellie is estimated to be approximately 8 years old. The vet felt that she had probably been bred every time she came into season and that she may have been dumped by her prior owner when she didn't produce as many puppies as she once had.

Ellie is an extremely playful and sweet cream-colored Lhasa. She is a healthy girl who has no allergies or other significant physical problems. She’s extremely well house-trained and crate-trained, very obedient, and she loves to be close to her people. She is only being re-homed because the children in the household have impaired vision and tend to inadvertently step on her, causing her some anxiety – and also because there is a very young and ultra-exuberant dog living with her who is (again, inadvertently) too rough for a girl like Ellie. She will make a wonderful addition to a family who would like to provide her with a home where she can just relax and play. Ellie LOVES to PLAY and she LOVES her TOYS! She also enjoys her walk every day! She would probably appreciate having no small children in the home...but older well-mannered children who would play with and walk her would be ideal. Additionally, she would do best with a fenced yard to help keep her safe.

Ellie isn't a barker, isn’t a chewer or a digger, doesn’t shed...in short, she has no bad habits. So...are you the loving forever family this sweet girl is hoping for?

She has been spayed, is micro-chipped, and is current on her Rabies and DHP/Parvo vaccines. She tested negative for heartworms and is on heartworm and flea prevention.

Ellie’s adoption fee is $250.00.

Please consider the care and grooming in long hair breeds such as Ellie when adopting or purchasing a dog. They are considered high maintenance dogs because they do require regular brushing and trips to the groomer every 6 weeks. If this does not fit in your budget or lifestyle a short hair breed would be better choice.

Forever Home Canine Rescue offers a 3-week trial period with all our adoptions, just to be sure that the pet is a good match for the adoptive family. The fee is refunded if the adoption does not work out within the trial period. We want to be sure that each of our pets will have the perfect “forever” home!

If you are interested in Ellie and think she may be your ideal canine companion, please visit our website at foreverhomek9rescue.org for information on our adoption process. To get an application, you can cut and paste this link to our online application: http://foreverhomek9rescue.org/adoption-application. You may also download an application from our website, or e-mail us at foreverhomeK9rescue@yahoo.com for additional information or to request an application.

Forever Home Canine Rescue adopts out-of-state, but we never “ship” or “transport” our pets. An approved adopter must come to North Carolina to meet their new canine companion and then take him/her back home with them.
