Meet Ellebanah - ADOPTED!
UPDATE 2/3/2013: THANK YOU Eric, Laura, & Teddy for adopting Ellebanah!
UPDATE 1/12/2014: Ellebanah has a deposit to hold her for a meeting on 1/19/2014.
New to rescue on 9-14-2013 from a NW Ohio Shelter.Â
Ellebanah is being fostered in Creston, OH
Ellebanah (meaning beautiful in Australian Aboriginal) was born in January 2013 & is deaf. She was surrendered to a shelter at 6 months of age for not getting along with the resident dog (we disagree, Ella tells us the resident dog didn't understand her, puppies aren't born defensive). She was in the shelter for two months, where they gave her great one on one care, but weren't able to work with her on her dog social skills as needed due to the kennel setting. Ellebanah is very sweet and social with her humans. She lacks looking to her humans for direction, but is already willing to try. Ella needs to re-learn how to interact with other dogs, she is showing us the prior resident dog was mean to her and she learned to defend herself. It took over 1.5 hours of guidance, but she and the pack are now playing with supervision and continued guidance. She is also learning her crate is her safe place and she needn't defend herself while in it. Ella is a fun happy ACD who will require an adopter with prior ACD experience, a fenced in yard, and the willingness to work with a deaf dog. Check back for updates as we get to know Ellebanah better.Â
UPDATE 10-15-2013: Ellebanah has been in foster care for over a month and we are very pleased with her progress! Elle loves to play with the other fosters, is completely crate trained, knows general manners, has good leash skills, & adores her human friends. Elle loves to play fetch with tennis balls and goes in the baby pool every chance she gets. She needs to continue to socialize with new stable dogs to keep mastering her new found play skills. Ellebanah is a gem and everyone who meets her falls in love with her.
Our adoption fee goes towards the rescues spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchip, fecal testing, worming, heartworm testing and treatment/preventative, any other medical needs are addressed, and all fosters are fed a premium food. Please consider a rescue, that comes to you with all of the routine medical done. If interested please fill out an adoption application. Incomplete applications will not be processed. Please note a foster's needs before filling out an application. Our fosters are in our homes for at least 2 weeks before adoption. We learn their likes/dislikes and these concerns are noted in their bios.
