Meet Ella - Fostered $25

Ella
*Shepherd Mix
*7 months and 41 lbs
*Unleash the love!
Two peas in a pod. Sibling sistersDAKOTA and ELLA are nearly identical in person (Dakota has a more blackmuzzle and Ella more freckles on her muzzle) but otherwise, you'll look twice to figure out who is who. Personality wise, they are so, so similar and equally as appealing and just pleasant to hang out with. Take a nice seat in the play yard area and that's when you'll discover how much they enjoy relaxing and being with their human friend. Give them some pets, maybe a nice combing (they have short hair but enjoythat activity) and you will be a huge hit. The girls, even thoughthey are stillteens on paper, had little or no interest in toys and in general have a more mature/adult feel to them vs playful and goofy. We're still getting to know them but thus far they have done a nice job in interacting with other dogs and overall get high high marks for being so amiableand great natured. We look forwardto discoveringeven more about what makes these young ladies so special and perfect companion pets. Stay tuned in...

Facebook Update July 27: Do blondes have more fun? Well, we just took in 2 siblings, DAKOTA and ELLA who MIGHT be able to answer that eternal question for you! Thing is though, you've got to come on down and ask them in person. Still teens at 7 mos of age, these recent arrivals have a more mature/adult feel to them and are very mild mannered. Both very polite, friendly and great on the leash, while they might turn out to be huge party animals, likely they will have a very manageable "fun factor." Be THE FIRST to interview one or both of these great girls today and be sure to ask them if blondes have more fun! LOL. Hope to see you soon.

Facebook Update August 13: We love discovering what makes our pets so wonderful! Yesterday, we spent some extra time with teen blonde sensation ELLA and what a joy she is!! We learned in particular that only next to her humans, she really, really loves water!! She went diving in and out of the kiddie pool with great fanfare and as one volunteer described her, "She was snorkeling and blowing bubbles under the water." This super friendly and most lovely young lady is working the crowd here to get noticed and no doubt she succeeded today!! If young at heart and on paper and sleek blonde to boot sounds like your kind of doggy friend, come check out ELLA today!

Facebook Update August 20: I love being near my human and I love my snacks. I think folks will agree I've done a swell job at settling into shelter life. I'm very easy to leash up for walks and i'll happily trot by your side as we go to the play yard where I can charm the socks off of you. With little or no interest in toys and a big interest in the humans, I think you'll enjoy how beautifully I sit by your side and also patiently wait for a snack. I'm prone for some zoomie loops and curious in general about my surroundings, but the thing i love most is getting some TLC from the humans. Can't YOU see YOUR hand petting and loving on me? I can! Ask for me, ELLA soon as I'm ready to head on home.

Facebook update Sept 1: Introducing Volunteer Tracey! We caught Tracey at her best the other day walking one of her fave doggies...ELLA! Don't tell the other dogs, but in general Tracey first reaches for Ella as she begins to get dogs out for walks. Next up, might be sibling Dakota. Tracey described her as loving, very sweet, a lap girl and easy to manage. We were thrilled to see them out and about! Welcome Tracey!

Facebook Update Sept 19: ELLA made her big TV debut last week but gosh darn it, still no one...not ONE person has even asked about our beauty. Well, that's just no bueno so some a wonderful Clemson Coed took her under her wing and is now fostering her in her home. Ella is now about 9mos old and literally growing up right before our eyes. Her foster mom is smitten with her as it is with everyone who meets her. Does she look like your type? Is blonde your "thing?" Do you need a best friend? If so, PLEASE email our Canine Foster Coordinator, Dana Farr at ohsfosterdogs@oconeehumane.org. Let's get an appt on the books and get this girl H-O-M-E!

From Ella's Foster Mom: She is doing so good, she's taking a nap rn but she is the sweetest soul ever, some of my friends met her and they love her!

Foster update Sept 20: Ella is the sweetest dog I have ever met. She has the most gentle soul and loves to give hugs and kisses. She is the perfect couch cuddler while watching your shows. She knows some commands like sit and down. She is phenomenal at letting you know when she needs to use the bathroom so you can let her out. Her favorite snack is puparonies and she loves her chew toys as well. She's is great around meeting new people and instantly warms up to them. Overall Ella's heart is so big and she loves to share her love with everyone! I am crate training her right now and I started a day ago and she's already going into the crate when asked. Such a good listener for sure.

Facebook update Oct 10: Look who is on the go again!!! It's our good friend ELLA! Folks, we can't stress enough how perfect our mid-sized blonde delight is. Ella lucked out in exiting the shelter area when storm Helene came roaring through and just this past weekend, with that foster briefly out of town, she was invited to another Clemson co-ed's pad to chill and gain even more foster experience. Dig through the pics and then connect with us for a meet and greet. Ella will not let you down. Promise. Note: 9 mos old; 40lbs

Foster update: She got to experience the lake for the first time. She is so quick to overcome fears! At first she was scared of the tiny waves but she quickly had a blast. She walked really well on the leash with another dog (also a foster dog).

Extra note from her foster: My adventures as a foster mom have begun and l'm loving it! I'm only doing shorter stays for now, mainly to protect my heart. Here are a few revelations I've had:
fostering is like when grandkids stay with their grandparents. You can spoil them, play a lot and give extra grace knowing it's temporary.
as a business owner, a dog is good for the soul. They force me to slow down. To press pause and walk outside. Something we'd all benefit from doing more of.
pit bull mixes are the sweetest, jk I already knew that.
This is Ella and she's adoptable through Oconee Humane Society. She has a sweet soul and has been great with people (including kids) and other dogs! She's a fun time and it's been cool exposing her to different things where I could see her quickly go from timid to brave and
