Elena is a 3-year-old, 18-pound bundle of sweetness who has been through more than her fair share, but you’d never know it from the love she has to give. When she first arrived at the shelter, she was completely shut down—too scared to engage, unsure of the world around her. But since moving into her foster home, Elena has slowly started to show her true colors, and what’s emerging is nothing short of beautiful.

This precious girl is naturally shy and timid at first, especially in new environments or around unfamiliar people. But with just a little patience and a lot of love, Elena begins to warm up—and when she does, she becomes the most loyal and affectionate companion you could ask for. Once she trusts you, she’ll be your constant shadow, following you from room to room just to be close. Her favorite place is by your side (or on your lap if you’ll let her!).

Elena currently lives with a dog foster brother and is doing wonderfully with him. She’s respectful, gentle, and gets along well with other calm, friendly dogs. She isn’t a fan of the crate and doesn’t love being confined, but she’s learning to tolerate it—especially when it’s in the bedroom and she knows you’re near.

One of the sweetest things about Elena is how eager she is to please and connect. She comes when you call her, responds well to a calm and kind voice, and absolutely adores giving kisses once she feels safe. Her affection is tender and genuine, and you can see just how much she wants to bond with someone special.

Elena is still gaining confidence and learning that the world isn’t such a scary place—but she’s come so far already. What she needs now is a patient, loving adopter who will continue to help her blossom at her own pace.
