Meet Eleanor

Have you ever put your trust in the wrong person? I did. I was just a puppy when my friend and I decided to go on a stroll. We left home in search of an adventure, we were never supposed to go far. We just wanted to see what else was out there but before we knew it...we were lost. Thankfully, we found a nice family that cared for us until our owner was found. When our owner came for us, he only took my friend home with him. Said that I wasn't his....that hurt. If I wasn't his, then who did I belong to? How could he do that to me. So, I lost my friend and any hope of going home that day. I ended up staying with the family that found me while they looked for a home for me. I stayed outside with their other dogs and since I liked to explore, often found myself in their outside pen to keep me safe. However, it was hot and only getting hotter.

My finders ended up reaching out to this rescue because they had to move and were not able to take me with them. The rescue ended up finding a foster family for me and said yes. I have to admit, I was quite nervous. I had no idea where I was going but when I met my foster family I still went up to them. I ended up riding in their lap all the way to the vet. There it was discovered that I was full of ticks and fleas, on the skinny side, and had some nasty intestinal parasites. After I was taken care of at the vet, my fosters loaded me back up and I was off to their home.

Even in my first home, I was used to never getting to come inside. So, when I got to my foster family I was expecting them to leave me outside. Instead, they took me inside! I was so surprised and had no idea what to think. I discovered very quickly that I appreciated how cool it was inside though. I have tried to be on my best behavior because I don't want to mess anything up, so have been on the quieter side since entering my foster home. I am finally learning to trust again though and that I won't be betrayed like I was with my first family. Every day I am opening up a little more and letting my guard down. Something really neat that I have recently discovered is toys! I never knew you could have so much fun with them! I am a regular at the local toy basket and will pull out all the toys looking for that one perfect toy....at least for the next 5 minutes before I run back for the next! ;) I never had the opportunity to go swimming, but I have heard of it. It sounds like it could be fun but I don't know if I would like it or not. I do know that I actually kind of like baths. Don't tell my foster siblings though because apparently you are supposed to fight your owner at bathtime??!! My foster family has introduced me to this game called fetch. I am learning how to play it but am definitely no pro at it...yet!

I have never been on a walk before and have only recently been on leash. I do love being outside and exploring so I think I would enjoy walks and hikes, in time. For right now, I am focusing on getting all my vaccinations and back to full health so haven't tried doing either yet. The car is also a new concept to me but I have done well the few times I have been in one. I am a very smart girl and quickly figured out the doggie door. So, during the day when it is open I am pretty much potty trained. However, I do still have some accidents at night since the doggie door gets locked. I know this isn't exactly ideal, but in my defense I used to go wherever and whenever I needed since I was only ever outside. So, I would say that I am doing pretty woofing amazing! When my foster family is away, I am baby-gated to a certain area and do really well. Since I have pretty good house manners, I have never been kenneled. I am not a big chewer and tend to stick to my toys. I really am not a barker but when I do bark it is quite adorable! Just wait until you hear it, you will fall in love with me all over again.

One of the biggest reasons that I have been able to adjust so well to my foster home is because of the other dogs. They have showed me the ropes and have been amazing mentors. I love to follow them around and learn everything I possibly can from them. I really look up to them so am I asking that my new family have other dogs. I have met the cats and I don't see why so many dogs are annoyed by them. I went right up to one, sniffed it, and walked off. There is really nothing all that interesting about them. My foster family has had some friends come over and I absolutely adored them! I love getting to meet new people and have no reservations about meeting strangers. I am also all about making a good impression and won't jump on people!

I put up a good front when meeting new people but I am scared of being hurt again. Of being abandoned again. Of someone acting like I never existed to them. As you get to know me and I start to trust you, I will start to open up more and more. You will see that I am smart, I am courageous, I am snuggly, I am beautiful, and most of all that I am loyal. Once I have given you my heart, you will be my everything! If you are the family that can and will give me forever....then please apply to adopt me at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

Once you have submitted your application, it will be sent on to my foster family for consideration. They are going to help us decide if we are truly the best fit for one another! I want you to be my forever but I also want to be your forever! ♥

I am being fostered in Tulsa, OK. I am not opposed to moving to another state with my new family. All I asked is that they are able to pick me up. I don't want to go on transport all by myself, I want to be with my family. That way we can already bond and start creating memories!

My adoption fee is $300.

That will include two sets of puppy shots and wormings. I will also have had a bordetella. I will be micro-chipped, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention

Thank You for listening to my story

-Eleanor, the 6 month old Great Pyrenees/Aussie mix.
