After slow introductions, he is very personable and typically calm and gentle. Elbert likes to give hugs, lean on his people, and snuggle, but he will do best in a home with no kids as he can sometimes be unsure around them. He is selective with other dogs, and for this reason he will do best in a home with no other pets. He will need a strong leader who will help him learn his place in his new home.
He’s got a very soft, very fine, low shed coat. Mostly black and white, with some brown on the face and jaw. His gait is more like a horse's trot than a run, which is likely due to the bullet or pellet lodged in his back. He does not appear to be in active pain and it has been determined it's best to leave it where it is, rather than trying to remove it.
Has the typical curiosity of a hound, wanting to sniff everything in sight, but he is much quieter than your typical hound. He rarely barks. He is crate trained, and house trained.
This boy is stunning. Please fill out an application if you think you can give Elbert the structure and guidance he's looking for.
