Meet Effie – The Cuddly, Spunky Pup With a Whole Lot of Love to Give!

Effie is an adorable 6-month-old retriever mix who made her way from Mississippi in search of her forever family. With her playful spirit, sweet snuggles, and irresistible charm, Effie is sure to steal your heart (and maybe your spot on the couch).

This goofy, high-energy girl loves to chew on toys, wrestle with her doggy friends, and play tug of war. She’s great with other dogs—both older and younger—and isn’t afraid to let them know when playtime is over. She’s been wonderful with kids too, although she’s still learning that her puppy teeth can be a little much during play. Effie hasn’t met a cat yet, so her thoughts on feline friends remain a mystery.

Effie is working hard on house training and crate training. She still has some accidents in the house (mostly peeing), and being crated isn’t her favorite—she’ll let you know how she feels about it, but she eventually settles. With a little patience and continued training, she’s going to get the hang of it all.

Leash walking? She’s got the basics down! She doesn’t pull, but she does occasionally stop short (watch your step!) and sometimes tries to turn the leash into a chew toy. She’s just a puppy, after all!

Effie is incredibly affectionate—she absolutely lives for cuddles. Whether it’s a nap on the couch or bedtime snuggles, Effie wants to be touching you at all times. She’ll even let you hold her like a baby on your shoulder. This girl has a heart full of love and truly wants to be the best pup she can be.

Effie is still mastering a few things like potty training, gentle play, and slowing down when eating, but with a little guidance, she’ll get there in no time. She’s smart, eager to please, and ready to learn.
