Meet Echo
Echo is a 3-year-old Siberian Husky currently being held at the Kern County Animal Services - Bakersfield Shelter. He has been at the shelter since June 13, 2024, and is ready for his new home.
A volunteer states: "I first saw Echo a week ago when he first arrived! He was in playgroup and another dog attacked him. Echo was completely dominated by this other dog. He suffered some puncture wounds on his legs. I knew from that moment he was a sweet boy.
Echo and his kennelmate enjoyed the playyard. Since it’s so hot outside, he dug a hole under the bench for them both to lay in to cool off ? He so tolerant of his friend who is kinda a puppy and kept following him and being in his space.
Echo is very loving and incredibly handsome. And he is an excellent listener and handshaker!"

Companion Animal Protection Services (CAPS), a national nonprofit based in Thousand Oaks, CA., is partnering with Kern County Animal Services in Bakersfield to find homes for high risk dogs, The shelter has more than 300 dogs and puppies in two metal warehouses with no outdoor runs. Dogs over five-months-old are at high risk for euthanasia because of lack of space and too many abandoned dogs in the community.
Please contact CAPS if you are interested in adopting, rescuing or fostering, and we will make sure the shelter contacts you. They do not answer phones or respond often to voice messages due to understaffing. Foster homes must be in Kern County. The dogs are in Bakersfield, not Thousand Oaks.
