Dylan is a wonderful 6-7 month old Italian Greyhound/Chihuahua mix (also known as a “Greyhuahua”) rescued from the San Bernardino Shelter (he was DNA tested). He is a great pup with an easy going attitude, who loves all people and dogs. Dylan’s personality is more so along the lines of Italian Greyhound, agile, athletic, companionable, intelligent, playful and alert. Dylan is a must meet. (Note: If you are one to favor girl dogs, please read my article, “Boys vs. Girls” on my website: www.angelsheartdogrescue.com).

Dylan is a super cute dog that is very soft with adorable upright ears and a cute puppy face that will most likely always have that perpetual puppy look. He has beautiful tan markings and ticking spots and even the distinct shape of a heart on his left side! He currently weighs about 13 lbs. He has long legs and is tall, which makes him good for walking and hiking. He is a friendly dog, loving and affectionate, that loves to cuddle with humans and other dogs and give them kisses. Dylan frequently cuddles on the same pet bed with any other dog here. He loves to interactively play with other young, playful dogs, but also seeks comfort and connection with the larger, calmer role model canines.

Dylan enjoys toys. He loves to play tug-of-war with another dog, or dangles a toy in front of a dog’s face to entice play and chase. He also enjoys wresting, and just anything that involves playing with other dogs. But Dylan can also totally settle down very nicely and chill. Dylan is NOT a hyper dog such as those dogs that cannot sit still. If I need to lie down during the day, Dylan will settle and lie down next to me for hours. Dylan is also a great balance of being near you, and exploring and being more independent. He does not come off as super needy, nor does he show signs of separation anxiety. He shows no signs of destructive behavior.

Dylan is crate-trained and potty-trained (though potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment). He does not mark my house or porch or things outside, but prefers to “go” on the lawn and then he is done. If I need to crate Dylan for a bit, in particular when I leave, Dylan is amazing. He is always as quiet as a mouse. Dylan is a smart, well-behaved, and is a fairly easy to manage puppy. He also learned the doggie door (dogs at the rescue are crated to eat, sleep, and when folks are gone from home).

The home we seek for Dylan has another friendly pup in the home that can be his companion, either a chill dog that likes him and does not mind cuddling and affection, or a more playful pup. Dylan can also be matched with a slightly larger dog as long as the dog is familiar with, and respectful to smaller dogs. Dylan has played with a 45 lb. Shepherd pup and held his own. A home with some semblance of a yard is plus, and with people who are not collectively gone from home for long, extended hours on a regular or daily basis (and no you do not have to be retired!). Dylan is a true gem, and anyone who adopts Dylan will acquire a good find!

NOTE: We only adopt dogs as primarily INDOOR dogs. Dogs can go outside to play, potty, to sun themselves at will, but should never be excluded to an outside area. You do not need to give a dog the run of the entire house, and an appropriate sized wire crate works very well during a transitional phase.

Dylan is neutered, fully vaccinated, Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Dylan, email Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. In the email, please provide some information about your home, family, other pets, and dog experience. Please also check your spam folder for an email reply from the rescue. If you wish, provide a phone number. Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue is a private, home-based rescue. We do have a process that involves some dialoging and an application (applications are not online); you can read about this process on my website: http://www.angelsheartdogrescue.com (go to the Adoption Tab). We seek stable homes that can provide a life-long environment for the dogs in our care. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue unless you do not receive a response from your email within 24 hours (evening to night emails may get a response the following morning).
