Meet Dutchess

Dutchess is a very sweet girl whose family purchased her as a little puppy and then gave her up when they realized that working all day left little time for a little puppy. She joined Coastal with the promise of finding her a family that has the experience to know just what a puppy needs, the time to give them what they need, and the love and patience to help them get through the puppy stage and become a wonderful adult.

Dutchess is in a foster home where she loves being with her foster brothers and sisters. They help her feel safe. You see, she missed out on much of the socialization when she spent her days alone as a little one and she is catching up. Alone, she is nervous and shy. But with her dog companions now, she is learning that the world is really a safe place. Her new best friend, Pirate, is a happy spirit that loves to show her that everything will be okay. She can easily be frightened by strange and new things, but she is learning by watching the other dogs in the home.

Dutchess loves to play chase and be chased, but she can be gentle about it with the ones who need a gentle touch, and play as rough and tough as the toughest when they want. Dutchess loves to show her foster mom how appreciative she is of all the time and attention she devotes to her. She loves to give kisses, cuddle and snuggle. It takes her a little time to feel safe with new people, but when she knows you are worthy of her trust, she bonds with you like no other. Having a confident dog in her new home is a must for Dutchess to help her continue to watch and learn. Because she is nervous, no young children for Dutchess, please.
Puppies are a life-long commitment. They need time, training, vet care and healthy feeding to become good canine citizens. Don't even think of adopting a puppy unless you intend to invest the time and money and commitment required, and you can expect to lose a few good shoes along the way!

Please visit http://www.coastalgsrsd.org/ to learn more about our dogs. Click on available dogs to see further descriptions. If you are interested in me, please contact us at puppies@coastalgsrsd.org or call (858) 779-9149. Don't forget to fill out our online application: http://www.coastalgsrsd.org/webform/1774/adoption-application.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $300 to $400. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.

Our adoption process begins with completing an application on-line. A phone screening will soon follow, and lastly a home visit will be conducted by our volunteers.
