Duke in San Antonio, TX's Story
FOSTERED IN SAN ANTONIO, TX. Please meet Duke, a 9 1/2 year old (not so senior) Bouvier des Flandres, with cropped ears and docked tail, who came to us because his owner passed away and his wife could no longer care for Duke. Duke is heartworm negative, up to date on vaccines, neutered and crate trained. "The Duke," as we call him, is not only handsome, but also very smart; we discovered that he had a lot of training in his youth. He loves to please, and he loves to belong. Duke will gladly walk with you, garden with you, or just be a log on the rug if you work from home or at TV time. He is a tall and strong boy but can be easily directed by voice and hand and voice commands. Duke LOVES!!!!! his daily leash walks, will sit at the curb, on leash, while you check traffic and will not continue until you tell him to. Mister Duke was a little " rusty" in the memory department (heck)… we called him a bull in a china shop at first, but he recovered pretty quickly and seemed to remember all the things he was once taught. He was just a lost boy for a while, after his owner passed, and had no guidance, but has returned to what he maybe was before all the changes in his life. He has shown no aggression whatsoever to any other creature, great and small, and currently lives with another Bouvier boy and some small dogs, as little as 4 lbs. On our walks, we encounter plenty of dogs on the other side of the fence of somebody’s backyard, but their barks, growls or yapping do not even faze him. His job of being your companion is his # 1 priority. When out in the yard, he waits by the door for you to join him, and will gallop around the yard with joy in his step, but always stopping to check if you are there with him. I can truly say that everybody that has met him has been smitten by his demeanor and appearance, and he will make that lucky right person a perfect pooch.
