Duke's Story

Howdy! My name is Duke. My foster mom calls me the Dukester. I can’t tell anyone how old I am, but they are thinking around 6-7 years old. Now you are probably thinking that I look older, but I have lived outside on a farm most of my life so that takes a toll on you! My original owner was kicked in the head by a horse recently and passed away. The rest of the family did not want me so they took me to the shelter. My foster mom picked me up and took me right to the vet to have me checked out. I had my teeth and ears cleaned, nails cut (they were long!), a few growths taken off my body, and now I am good as new! Now you may notice that my ears look funny. That is because I had hematomas (blood that pools in the ear flaps) that were never taken care of, so my ear flaps have shriveled up. That is what happens when it is not taken care of surgically. I also have sad-looking eyes as they are droopier than normal, but I want to tell you I am the most loving dog you will adopt! One other thing is my nose. The vet thinks I may have been rooting around in things on the farm and I lost my hair off the end of my nose. All these things add up to: I am unique! I am housebroken, get along with other dogs and children, and know some basic obedience. My family is unsure of what to say about cats because I can’t tell them. My foster mom was amazed that I knew the dog door right off the bat. I have also found out what a bed and couch are! I love to chew on bones and play with toys. I also like to play with the other dogs if they want to. I will let you know if there is someone in the driveway or at the door by giving you a big woof. I can’t wait to find my forever family. I am being fostered in the Louisville area. Please don’t let my looks dissuade you! You really have to meet me to know I have a great personality. See you soon! I almost forgot! I am up to date on vaccinations, heart worm negative and on preventative, micro chipped and neutered.

If you are interested in this Weim, please go to www.louisvilleweimrescue.com and fill out an adoption application. Once we receive your application we will contact you.

Also, foster homes are always in need for Weimaraners in our rescue.
