Duke and Rex's Story

Hi humans! We are Rex (Terrier) and Duke (Beagle) — two almost-7-year-old best friends who come as a bonded pair. We’re sweet, handsome gentlemen who love cuddles, cozy homes, and each other.

We’re both low-to-moderate energy dogs, perfect for someone who wants great companionship without the high-octane lifestyle. Duke can be a little timid at first, but once he feels safe, he turns into the biggest sweetheart. Rex, on the other hand, has plenty of spunk and personality to share! We both used to attend doggy daycare and are social with other dogs!

Duke is afraid of gunshots, thunderstorms, and small children, so he’s definitely not a hunting dog. But we’ve lived with cats before and do just fine with them, making us great additions to a calm, loving home.

If you’re looking for two loyal, snuggly companions who are already the best of friends, please put in an application. And great news — one of our adoption fees is waived, so you get two amazing dogs for the price of one!

We are up-to-date on vaccines, neutered, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm negative.

The cost to adopt is $250 and the adoption process begins with an Adoption Application that is located at: www.faithfulfriendsnc.org/adopt

Once your completed application has been reviewed the humans will contact you with questions and/or set an appointment for you to meet me. Thank you! Please read all guidelines before sending in an application. Do not reach out to the sanctuary about the status of your application, we will contact you if we are interested in setting up an appointment.

Please read before applying. We place our animals—many from neglectful or abusive backgrounds—only in safe, responsible homes. Basic requirements include up-to-date vet care for current/past pets (Rabies, Distemper, annual exams, heartworm prevention for dogs), safe housing, and a vet reference check from all clinics used in the last 10 years. Renters must provide landlord approval. First-time adopters ages 21–25 may need additional info. You must apply for a specific animal and complete the application fully. Approved applicants will be contacted to schedule a meet & greet; we cannot provide status updates due to high volume.
