Meet Duke

Nayeli got a call, a concerned person had seen a puppy walking along a busy road, dodging the heavy traffic. She took off and rushed to the place, finding him running and scared. He was by himself, seemed lost and was afraid of the cars racing past him. When she tried to grab him, he immediately threw himself to the ground and peed out of fear. Although he was just a puppy, he was in bad shape; malnourished, filthy, and full of fleas. Nayeli managed to pick him up and took him to the vet where he was checked and tested for scary illnesses which fortunately came back negative. A very needed wash, vitamins and deworming started him on his health protocol, and then he was taken to the shelter for a fresh new start.

Duke is a mix of Labrador and Great Pyrenees; he is now 2 years old and weighs 30 kilos.
Duke is a gorgeous boy that loves humans of all ages. He gets along with all the dogs in the shelter and is social when meeting most new dogs on his walks outside. We don’t know if he gets along with cats but can be tested, if needed. He is not food, toy or sleeping area possessive.

Duke is a loving goofy boy that loves playing with kids and other dogs whenever he can. He can be a little bit scared in brand new situations since he was raised in the shelter and just need a family who will understand that the world is big and can sometimes be scary, and that exposure and patience will be all he needs to realize that. They have been working on his house training and getting him used to sleeping in a crate. We think his ideal home will be with an active family with or without kids or teenagers and maybe another dog so they can play together in the backyard.

The adoption fee for Duke is $550 and includes flight, neuter, vaccines, and full vetting. He can be on a flight, if a foster or adoptive home is found. If you are ready for Duke to join your family, please submit an application at the following link: https://form.jotform.com/250991010499258
