Meet Duke

Hello my name is Duke. I'm told I am a 4 ½ year old purebred Mini Australian Shepherd and that I am super handsome. (I am sooo overweight at 50 lbs.--I am working on that.) I have great house manners. I walk nicely on leash and love car rides…I love pretty much anything I can do with my human. I especially like to snuggle up on the couch and watch tv and I love to be groomed.
I enjoy other dog friends but am not at all good with cats. I can be a little shy with new people—especially men—but I warm up really quickly with most people.
I would love a home where I can have my person home all the time but am good left alone for a few hours. I would love to sleep with you but will sleep in my crate instead if you want. My foster mom says I do not really need to be crated since I am good boy.

Duke would be fine in a home where he is the only dog, but might enjoy living another dog that would be okay with his attention hog tendencies.
He needs a home with a fenced yard (not invisible/electric fence) and a home with all adults or with respectful school age children; and one where he does not need to be regularly left alone for long hours without human companionship.
(A $400 adoption fee is required.)
If you are interested in this dog, please go to the Adopt page of our website where you will find a link to an adoption application form https://www.chewdogrescue.org/index.php/component/rsform/form/5-adoption-application-form

If you have previously submitted an application form, there is no need to re-apply. Just let us know you're interested in this dog. We do our best to match families and dogs so everyone is pleased and the placement is permanent. We reserve the right to refuse an applicant if the home situation is incompatible with the needs of the rescue dog. Rescue is about doing our best for the dog. We do home and reference checks. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and are up to date with current vaccinations, before being placed in their forever homes.

FOSTER HOMES NEEDED! We are always looking for good foster homes. Our rescue is foster based and we can always save more dogs if we have foster homes for them to go into. It is not a long term commitment. We have been able to find good forever homes in a short time. We also welcome volunteers who can help transport dogs and help with our outreach and fund raising efforts. Please contact us if you can help.
