Meet Harry

Harry is a real prince of a dog! Six-years-old and 20lbs, he was happily adopted two and a half years ago. However, his mom had serious heart surgery, couldn't exercise him and felt Harry was no longer living the life he deserves. As much as it hurts to re-home Harry, she has done it out of love and in his best interests.

The longer Harry has been in foster the more we are learning about him. We feel he will be fine as an only dog in the home or with a canine companion of his size or larger. He had been living happily with a large dog the past few years. At his foster home he gets along with the other dogs but can become too excitable around the smaller dogs and want to play a bit too rough.

Harry really loves his humans! He likes to cuddle and give affection. When he first meets you, he will be right up on your leg in a very gentle way to say “hi” and ask for his rubs. When his foster dad comes home from work Harry is with the pack to meet him at the door, quietly and well-mannered.

Harry will need a securely fenced yard and we will not accept applications without one, as he can be an escape artist. His foster finds that he will happily explore her yard and a whistle will bring him right to the door to come in. He needs those barriers to stop him from roaming. He will listen and obey once he knows he can trust you and if you give him direction.

Being the active little guy he is, having a nice spacious yard is perfect for him to romp (he loves to play). He also enjoys his walks and has lots of energy. He travels well in the car and takes interest in his surroundings.

When Harry first arrived to foster he had some fussy food habits. Unfortunately, he was spoiled in his former home and got used to eating table food. He also wasn’t fond of the other dogs coming near his bowl. His foster started giving him kibble mixed with homemade food and veggies and he now cleans his bowl. He is even letting the other dogs approach now.

Harry is a healthy boy who is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines (Rabies, DA2PP and Leptospirosis). He has no known allergies, is housebroken, leash trained, crate trained and had three walks a day before his prior owner became ill.

When we asked what else his foster could tell us about Harry, she said he is super smart. He loves to play with his humans and especially with the dogs. He is also equally good at having some alone time. Just an all-around darling boy, eager to please and to be loved.
