Local adoptions only: within a 75-mile radius of Quail Valley/Menifee, Southwest Riverside County. Please note: L.A. and Orange Counties are out of area due to traffic/drive time. We deliver animals to their new homes to see where they will be living and see that the yard is safe/secure. Duke is looking for a new home because his owner passed away of cancer. Duke is looking for a new home because his owner passed away of cancer. Duke is an all black German Shepherd Mix who is medium-sized and weighs 50 pounds. We do not know what he is mixed with. His estimated date of birth is 10-22-17. He is healthy and has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped. Duke is a great companion dog and just wants to be loved! He's smart, obedient, calm and a loyal companion. He's a shadow and will follow you around to be near you. He gets along well with other dogs and will play with some dogs (female his size). He is indifferent to cats in the household and is okay with children. He loves to go for walks and knows to sit for food and treats. He is house trained and crate trained, but can escape from the crate unless a clip or lock secures the door. He is an indoor dog and is looking for a home where he will be part of the family and be able to hang out with his person or people. If, in his new home he was home alone all day, it would not be a good match and he would not be happy. A family or person who is home most of the time and is able to take him for a daily brisk walk or hike is the best match for Duke. $300 adoption fee, cash only, which is to help reimburse for a portion of expenses of dog rescue and rehabilitation. Adoption contract required. We are looking for adopters who are willing and able to care for this dog for its lifetime (10+ years). We prescreen potential adopters before setting up a meeting. Thank you. Our adoption process involves meeting the animal by appointment. We have the best interest of the animal in mind and our goal is to find a good, permanent home for each of our rescued animals. We have the right to decline an application if we feel it is not a good match/fit or suitable home. If you like the animal and we both feel it is a good match, an application and adoption contract is completed. A convenient day/time is arranged for us to deliver the animal to its new home. We will collect the adoption fee (cash only) when we deliver the animal to its new home. All our adoptions are on a trial basis because our goal is to have a successful adoption where the animal has a good permanent home and never ends up in a bad situation again. We ask that you give the animal a chance to adjust and settle in his new home and environment. Going to a new home with new people and a new environment is traumatic and stressful. It will take time for the animal to become comfortable around you and his/her new home. This should be a bonding period where you get to know the animal and connect with it, spend time with it and take things slow. He/she will need to get to know and trust you and learn the rules of the house and what is expected of him/her. This takes time, sometimes 2-3 weeks. During this time we will hold the adoption fee and if the adoption is not working out, we ask that you contact us and return the animal and we will refund your adoption fee.
