Meet Duke

Seasons greetings! My name is Duke. I am a purebred buff cocker spaniel male with a beautiful long coat. Sorry you can't see how lovely my coat is right now but it was badly matted and the groomer shaved me down. It will grow back and I will be in my glory once again. For now, I am wearing a sweater to stay warm. Weighing in at 22 lbs (probably less without my fur coat), I have been brought up to date on all vaccines and am scheduled to be neutered in the next few days. Didn't put that on my Xmas wish list.
At 7 years old, I am a mature guy with wonderful house manners. Fully housetrained, I can be given the run of the house without worries. I don't chew things up or get into things. I am a quiet guy who just wants to be part of a family. In my foster home, I sleep in a crate at night. I cry a little but then settle down. I would much rather share a bed with a loved one.
Sweet as can be, that's me. I love all people and get along well with other dogs. I take no for an answer. If my foster dog brother lets me know he wants to be left alone, he doesn't have to ask me twice.
In my former home, I did not receive the kind of care I deserved. As a result, I have ear infections that are currently being treated with antibiotics and drops. I am so good about taking my medicine! My face is still somewhat swollen and a little asymmetrical (droops on one side). The vet is not sure yet whether all of this is related to chronic ear infections. We will find out when the ear infections resolve. I am also a little unsteady at times and don't do well on stairs. I can go up them but sometimes I stumble going down. Because of that, I am a bit fearful. I don't weigh too much so if you would carry me, I would love it.
Negative for Heartworm and Lyme Disease, microchipped and soon to be neutered, all I need is a home for the holidays. If you have a big heart and are willing to open it to a guy who has been down on his luck, I will be your biggest fan! I need someone who will make my health a priority and keep me up to date on my vaccines and grooming. I do fine alone in the house but if there was someone home to keep me company, life would be perfect. Did I tell you I love to go for car rides? I stay in the back (no leaping around for me) and enjoy the scenery.. Keep those child locks on though. I can operate power windows.

Please make my dreams of a family for the new year come true! Apply to adopt me today. Thank you with all my heart!!! XXOO
