Meet Duck's Story

To My Former Owner:

I wanted so much more. I wanted a loving family. I wanted a soft bed. I wanted toys. I wanted a family. I wanted you to care about me. I know that you couldn't keep 3 puppies but you could have made sure we ended up somewhere safe. Instead, you let us end up on the streets. We were only a couple months old. You should have been there for us. Instead, at only 3 months old we were homeless and on the streets.

Did you know we searched for you? You were all we had ever known. We couldn't imagine that you would just abandon us. There was just some kind of mistake. We looked high and low. We dodged cars. We dug around in trash cans. We tried our best to survive. Puppies aren't meant to be out on the streets and it wasn't long before we got picked up. We ended up in doggie jail. That was pretty sucky too. My siblings and I actually spent several weeks there waiting. At first, we had hoped you would come for us...but you never did. Then we had hoped that we would get adopted...but that didn't happen either. Not until the last minute did one of us get adopted, and my brother Chicken and I ended up with PPFT.

I want to be mad at you. I deserved better. My brothers deserved better. You should have made sure we all found loving homes, not dumped us when you were tired of dealing with us. I want to hold on to the hurt, but I cannot do that. What I went through wasn't fair, but it also led me to where I am now. I am with someone who truly cares and loves me. And here soon...I am going to adopt and start a whole other adventure. I don't want what happened to me in the past, to mess with what is coming my way in the future. That is why I am writing to tell you that I forgive you. I will never understand what you did, but in the end, it worked itself out. I can only hope you will do better with your next pets and never allow them to go through what I and my siblings went through.

To My Future Family:

My name is Duck and I am a 38lb, 4-month-old male Great Pyrenees. I have a gorgeous white coat and am expected to top out somewhere in the 80-90lb range. I am being fostered around other dogs and cats and do well with them.

I have a pretty chill personality, but still like to have fun. I like playing with the other dogs, exploring the yard, and playing with toys. I would gladly go to the lake and relax or go on a short hike with you. I don't have a lot of stamina but am eager to explore. I am excited to meet new people but also calm easily.

I am working on my potty and kennel training. My house manners are as to be expected for a pup my age so hopefully, my family is ready for everything that comes with a young pup such as myself ;)

FROM HIS FOSTER MOM ?

~Duck is a dog that will love family activities and will settle into any environment quickly. Duck has a great personality to be a family dog inside with children and other small animals. Duck does have some separation anxiety that we are addressing. Duck does very well with all dogs, but can be pushy, so submissive dogs are best for this behavior to prevent arguments and hiccups in the home. He is food motivated, has learning-friendly hands, and has gentle behavior to help prepare him for his new home.

Duck would do best with someone who is familiar with large breed dogs, and another playful and submissive dog that won't mind his more pushy personality sometimes. He would need an outlet for the short bursts of energy that seem retriever based.~
