Meet Duchess

Meet DUCHESS
(Though don’t expect tea parties and tiaras—this royal prefers fetch and belly rubs.)

Duchess is a sleek, 38-pound black Lab mix who narrowly dodged the royal guillotine at an overcrowded shelter. Being an all-black dog with energy to spare, she was basically invisible to adopters—but we said, “Not today, peasants!” and scooped her up just in time.

Shelter staff guessed she was around 10 months old, but our vet thinks she’s probably 2–3 years. Either way, she’s young enough to party and mature enough not to eat your couch. Balance!

She is:
   •   ? Spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative
   •   ? House and crate trained
   •   ? On monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention
   •   ? Dog-friendly (medium and large dogs welcome to the court!)
   •   ? A fantastic passenger princess in the car

Duchess is not destructive and only barks when you’re taking too long with her dinner (understandable, really). She sleeps with her human at night—preferably right in the royal bed, of course—and loves to zoom around the yard like she’s being chased by invisible squirrels.

She knows her commands (sit, stay, come, heel, off) and will happily follow them… unless she forgets and jumps up to smother you with affection. A quick reminder and she’s back to sitting like a good little noblewoman. Because of her enthusiastic greetings, she’s probably best suited for older kids—she doesn’t mean to knock anyone over, she’s just overflowing with love and maybe a little dramatic flair.

Duchess would make an excellent adventure sidekick—think hiking, running, camping, chasing imaginary dragons. She’s not a couch potato, but after a long day of fun, she’ll gladly flop beside you with a chew toy and demand belly rubs like the pampered princess she is.

Whether you’re a family, a couple, or a solo adventurer, if you’ve got an active lifestyle and a royal-sized space in your heart, Duchess might just be your perfect match.

Long live the Queen…..of Zoomies.

Duchess is currently being fostered in Texas but available to transport to approved adopter in the Midwest, Northeast and Canada.

Adoption fee includes vaccinations, Spay/Neuter, microchip, deworming, heartworm test, transport and vet/documentation requirements in preparation for transport.
