Duchess Labrador Retriever Mix Shorter, AL

Happy Spring. I am Duchess and I am a Georgia Peach. I was rescued in Georgia during the 2022 Holidays and brought to Big Dog Ranch to find my FUREVER home. I am very joyful and spirited for sure. I just had my first birthday here. I was a favorite of everyone at the previous shelter I came from. They called me very poised! Perhaps I have some royalty in me? We Labs and Retrievers like to be kept busy, but we also like snuggles and lovey time too. I like kids, and toys, and do well on the leash too but I need practice. You know what they say, Practice makes PAWfect. I really don't know about "those cats" considering my energy level and breed I might want to chase them. I am also a BLACK DOG. Did you know that black dogs have the lowest adoption rate of any other color dog in the shelter? Let's celebrate, honor AND ADOPT black dogs! LIKE ME!
Black dogs may spend as much as 4-times longer in shelters waiting for a forever family. It's what shelter workers and rescuers call "Black Dog Syndrome. ( If you have a fence, please note that I am very jumpy and I love to jump fences so keep an eye on me.)
