Meet Duchess
Our gorgeous Duchess joined us with the rest of her canine family from our “Missouri 11” pack, each taken into rescue after their lifelong owner passed away.
Like most of her former packmates, Duchess didn’t have much life experience as a companion animal in a family home environment.
Lucky for Duchess, she snagged a fantastic foster home with her former packmate (and now adopted) Kaiser -- these two were ecstatic to see each other upon her arrival! Since then, the big guy has been doing a great job of showing his foster sister the ropes of how to be a house dog.
Sweet but shy, Duchess can be easy to startle and initially worried about new people and experiences. She will slink out of reach to study you until she’s positive you’re an okay kinda gal or guy. But once she’s had time to warm up to you, have those treats ready. She’s a sweetheart who loves her food and takes treats gently!
Duchess would love a quieter home with an experienced family who can continue to help her confidence bloom. We think she will do best with a calm, confident male dog buddy as a companion. Cats are currently unknown, but she’s been gentle and kind with her foster family’s school-aged kids.
Duchess arrived in rescue intact, but will be spayed prior to adoption.

*Dogs and puppies 12 months old or younger: $400
* Adult dogs over 12 months of age: $350
* Senior dogs over 7 years of age qualify for our "Seniors FUREVER" program! Seniors are special to us, so we offer two options:
(1) If your heart has a special place for the seniors, you can adopt a senior dog for the regular adoption fee of $350 and this becomes a perpetual fee. You can adopt another SGSDR senior dog at any time from us in the future at NO CHARGE.
(2) If you aren't sure about your future adoption capacity, you may adopt your SGSDR senior dog for a reduced adoption fee of $250.
