Douglas Labrador Retriever & Shar-Pei Mix Onalaska, WI

Douglas is a handsome 7 year old boy with the cutest little Shar Pei ears and thick plush fur! He lived his whole life previously as an outdoor dog but has done very well in his recent foster home with plenty of walks and playtime. Dougie (as his foster mom calls him) has had perfect housetraining manners there and even sleeps on the couch overnight without getting into any mischief! He would make a great indoor dog as long as he gets enough daily exercise and time to explore outside on leash or in a fenced area.

He previously lived with a female dog years ago and did very well; while it had been awhile since he lived with a dog, in his foster home he has gotten along great with the 2 small dogs and likes to play with them; at first, he wanted to keep his treats and toys to himself, but he has gradually gotten better at sharing given time and guidance from his foster parents. We recommend a dog meet with any resident dogs to make sure they are a good match. He has been around cats in his previous home and did just fine and even ignores the outdoor chickens at his foster home! Due to his resource guarding he is looking for a home without children.

Douglas is a goofy boy who loves to go for walks and follow you around while you do chores. He LOVES to roll in the grass, get belly rubs, and chase after stuffed toys! He's looking for a family who wants a buddy to join in on the daily activities.
