Meet Douglas

Douglas turned up in a public park covered in ticks and very hungry. His foster mom quickly whisked him away from a ruff life on the streets to the warm love of a foster family. Douglas has been adjusting well with lots of love and good food. He now knows all his basics (sit, stay, wait, back, , down, off), and has been very successful in his potty training. He is sleeping through the night in his crate. Douglas will be a great addition to an active family ready for a playful young dog! He needs all the care and attention of a toddler but will give back 10 fold in love and entertainment. He's a goofy kid with a big heart - adopt him now so you can watch him be the devoted companion he is.
Douglas is an alpha male and gets along with foster's 11 year old sheltie - the sheltie made it clear she "does not play." Don't really know how he is with other dogs except that he always wants to play and play hard. When foster mom takes him around other dogs (at pet adoptions) he wags and barks.
Douglas is about 16 months old, leveling out at 70 pounds. He is neutered, chipped, and up-to-date on shots.
The two little boys that rescued Douglas with their Great Aunt were here in the summer. Here is a delightful anecdote that tells you about Douglas delight with kids:
After we saw the movie MAX, the boys' transferred what they had seen about dog bonding. The only way Douglas could sleep with them each night was to move a crate in. The first night we tried w/o the crate and when the boys went to sleep, Corban lost a pair of flip flops because he was not awake to say no-no. (Once Douglas knows it is a no-no, he backs off.) Douglas typically made it until about 11:30pm each night and I would have to get up and transfer him to the sunporch. After the movie, each boy got in the crate with Douglas to sit a bit. Then one lay down beside Douglas and all slept soundly until 7 am. The boy had also put his hand in the crate to touch Douglas all night. When I went in to wake them, Douglas just calmly sat up and looked at me as if to say "oh, is it time to get up?"
Just adorable!
