Meet Dougie
LOCATION: Van, Texas
AGE/DOB: 1 year, 05/2021 (estimate)
Are you active and energetic? Looking for a sidekick to keep you company on those adventures? Then DOUGIE is your guy!
Dougie is an energetic fella that loves to play and be active. He's also easy going - just looking for a place to fit in.
After those adventures, Dougie can turn on the charm and give you all the loves. This boy LOVES to cuddle!
His ideal home would definitely include other dogs and kids to play with that share his energy level and love to be active. He loves dogs small and large! He's currently living with a male weenie dog - Dougie doesn't bat an eye at the weenie dog, aside from occasionally accidentally stepping on him. No aggression from Mr. Dougie.
Dougie LOVES kids. He plays endlessly with his 3-year-old foster kiddo. However, he is STILL A PUPPY so play time needs to be monitored as he can be a little rough with his size and puppy energy.
Cats? Unsure. He chased the indoor/outdoor cat in his foster home when he first got there - and is super curious about her - but the cat isn't willing to give Dougie another chance to make friends. With proper introductions he may be able to live with dog savvy cats.
His foster mom works from home - so Dougie is not left home alone often. Dougie doesn't like to be restrained - he is not crated. He has an extra room that he hangs out in when he is left alone. It takes him a little time to settle down in the extra room - but he does eventually settle down.
Dougie takes a minute to warm up to new people - but once he warms up he loves to get all the loves. Balls are his weakness - he can't help but go after them. He is still a puppy - so needs strong, durable toys.
Leash training? Still a work in process. He is potty trained.
Dougie is the most goofy and sweet baby. He is smart and loves to work on his tricks in exchange for treats. He still has a lot to learn - which is great for a family willing to work with him and mold him into their perfect companion.
