Dooney: Adopted! Collie Mix Kansas City, KS

Date of birth: 6/2009

2/5/2015: Dooney is a super cute Collie mix with pretty reddish-brown and white markings. He’s a friendly guy and very sweet. He is 5 years old and weighs 52 lbs. We were told that he is house trained, and he keeps his kennel clean here at our shelter.

Dooney has a medium energy level. We've been doing some agility course work with him and he is a natural! He does the jump, A frame, dog walk and even the teeter-totter! And he loves it. He's also been going to obedience classes at The Dogs' Spot in Gladstone. He's currently at the intermediate level.

Dooney will probably need to be an only pet. He walks nicely on a leash on our pack walks and can walk near many other dogs without issue, but he hadn’t been socialized with dogs previously and we haven’t found any dogs yet who he could share a kennel with here. He is also not good with cats. He likes people -- he's a people dog!

Dooney has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms. He was given up because his person was evicted and couldn’t care for him any longer. They’d had Dooney since he was a tiny pup and they had bottle fed him. He’s a sweetie!

All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, coupons for pet supplies and services, toys, and educational materials. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home!

> Please note that we prefer and may require a fenced yard for many of our dogs. Exceptions are made on an individual basis depending on the dog's needs, the person's dog experience, the dog's and person's activity levels, home environment and other factors.

> An application is required to adopt a pet and applicants must meet our adoption requirements. If you decide you'd like to adopt one of our dogs, we reserve the pet for you but we generally don't send the dog home with you that same day.
