Doodle Cairn Terrier & Dachshund Mix Itasca, IL

Greetings! Doodle here. My foster mom says I am just the cutest little love bug with a laid-back personality, and it is your lucky day because I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am an 8-years-young mixed breed fellow: I could be a little bit doxie, a little bit cocker spaniel, a little bit terrier...your guess is as good as mine! I have short stubby legs and a long body. I have curly hair on top of my head, but the rest of my fur is long and straight. I’m soft with black and gray floppy ears. I am truly a sight to be seen. I’m what most people would call a medium sized dog as I’m only 30 pounds. I am also blind, but don't let that bother you because it doesn't bother me! Once I know the layout of my home, it is easy to forget I am seeing impaired because I act like a typical, extra special doodlebug!

Fetching Tails rescued me from Chicago Animal Care & Control; I was pretty scared at first because I didn’t understand why my previous family left me at that loud shelter, but my foster mom did her best to make me feel welcome in her home and I really like her a lot. I’m a little nervous around men, but women are my favorite kind of humans. I’m kind of a mixed bag with both my looks and my personality. While I am kind of quiet and aloof, there are times too when I like to play and give soft secret kisses. While I’m definitely a couch potato, one of my favorite things in the world is taking a walk! With my nose to the ground, there isn’t anything I can’t sniff out. I walk pretty slow. In fact, my Mom’s nickname for me is Turtle. Hey, it’s not my fault that I have short legs. Besides, there are so many wonderful smelly things outside that I need to take my time. I love to roll in the grass and sniff around for those pesky things called squirrels. Maybe one day I will catch actually catch one! My foster mom also likes to watch me when she washes my face. I get all silly and run around in circles trying to dry myself off. You see, that’s kind of out of character for my quiet self. It really makes her smile inside when I zoom around and around like crazy as fast as my little legs will go!

I am a gentleman and have pretty great house manners. I am potty trained, though I might have an accident or two while I learn the layout and schedule of my new home. I enjoy hanging out in my crate as long as the door is open and I can come and go as I please. I don’t really need the crate because I’m not destructive, but it’s kind of my quiet doggie den to relax. I would prefer to be your one and only canine companion because I like all your attention on myself. My ideal home would be someone who is home most of the time as I like to be near my human, and I would prefer a home with no young children. *Be at least 21 years of age
*Live in a 50-mile radius of Itasca, within the Illinois border
*Have the knowledge and agreement of all adults living in the household
*Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease)
*Have a valid ID with current address (please provide proof of address if ID address is not up-to-date)
*Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Fetching Tails Foundation
*Be prepared to make a lifetime commitment
