MY AGE: approx. 2 years WEIGHT: approx. 26 lbs.

MY STORY: If you had to describe Dolly Kay with one word, I'd say: Happy!

We picked her up on the evening of Feb. 12. She was excited to be outside and got into the car on her own. She is fine riding in a car. After her walk she went right up the front stairs to the door. No problem and no hint of anxiety or fear.

It's clear she wants to make friends with everyone, people and dogs alike. Her demeanor is open and ready for fun, but after a walk or playtime, she is content to lie on the couch.

She allowed us to bathe her without fuss and was fine with being combed afterward. She's furry but didn't shed as much as I thought she would after her bath. Her coat markings are interesting (love the big black spot on her side) and her paws are just the cutest I had to take a picture.

She knows what tennis balls and chews are for and is already learning "sit." No accidents so far and she slept soundly on the bed then moved to the floor later.

She ate her breakfast in the crate in the living room and she cleaned out the bowl - yum! We'll continue familiarizing her with the crate. We don't know yet how she'll be when we crate her and leave. Stay tuned for updates.

She and our female dog, Sadie, play really well together. Good energy there and fun to watch. If play gets a little too wild, the dogs will respond well to our redirection. Dolly Kay wants to please and very much enjoys being petted.

She has a voice! She does a little "woof woof" sometimes when we're getting ready to go outside, during play time, or when looking out the window. If she barks when she doesn't really need to, she responds well to gentle corrections. But she's quiet most of the time. Dolly Kay is a balance of fun/active and chill mode.

We've learned this much about her in less than 24 hours. What a good girl!

To adopt the FIRST STEP is to complete an APPLICATION.

Adopters must be 24 years of age. We can not adopt to families with children under the age of six. We also only adopt in WI, IL, and parts of MN. Most of our dogs are strays, so the breed is our best guess.
