Cece's and Dolly's previous owner was unable to properly care for the two of them. He adopted them from a woman in rural Kentucky where he was told that the sisters were "pure-bred" Boxers. Although it was obvious to ACS staff at first glance that the two girls were not pure-breeds, it is likely that they have Boxer in them. As both of the puppies are girls, two Boxer (even mixed) females are NOT recommended together. During their time together, they fought with increasing intensity. This likely had something to do with their surrender.
Their owner did not have the time or ability to properly care for them. While at work or otherwise away from home, he kept the girls in an outdoor kennel or run. They can climb a four-foot fence easily, thus he kept them in a six-foot kennel. At night, he would bring them inside the house. Both Dolly and Cece have not received training and will need work to learn their obedience skills. As such, ACS will look for an adopter prepared for the challenge of house-training, obedience training, and able to provide a life where the girls are not housed outdoors. They are both well behaved around cats.
