Dear Friends-

I'm DJ and I'm looking for a forever family- could it be you??

My last family didn't take good care of me- they dumped me, all by myself in a place I didn't know. I had just about given up all hope when I was found by some really nice strangers. They were so worried about me- it felt good to have someone care enough to help me- I was starving, I couldn't breathe well and I was very very cold.

My hair was so matted I had knots all over and I was covered in dirt and poop. The nice people took me to their house, warmed me up and gave me some food and water. They were very worried about me. They took me to the shelter and the shelter got me to the vet bc I still couldn't breath right and I was very sleepy.

The vet said I was hypothermic from being outside and that I also have a high grade heart murmur. He was very nice and said things like: 'could be pneumonia, could be congestive heart failure, we don't know if he'll make it but we can try'. He told the nice lady that my teeth were really bad too.

They gave me some medicine and I went to sleep wrapped in a warm blanket. When morning came I never felt better! I was a new dog- I was excited to see everyone- I was so happy bc I could breathe!! I was running around telling everyone "thank you" by giving them all kisses.

I though I was going home but instead I had to go back to the shelter. I was a little sad again but the nice police sergeant said "don't worry little dude we will find a place for you.

A few days later some more nice people came from Red Leash Rescue and they took me out of the shelter for good!

I'm still taking some medicine but it I may not need it long term- we have to see. I'm getting neutered on 3/17 and they will take care of any teeth then too.

The new vet said my vision and hearing are good- and that my labs just came back pretty good- basically saying I was an older gentleman but nothing too crazy is going on so they will let me have my surgery and get used to feeling better, eating well and being loved- then we can recheck my blood work and heart to see if I still need the heart medicine- please don't let that scare you off if I do need the medicine bc its not expensive stuff.

I'm relearning potty training- I have never had a poop accident, but sometimes I have a pee pee accident. My foster mom said it was ok bc I was getting the hang of things really fast. I know to go to the door to go out its just if no one sees me waiting I have an accident- folks when you gotta go you gotta go.

I like other dogs- but I don't need them to be happy. I love everyone big or small- I'm not fearful - I love to meet new people, to wander in a yard and above all else I love to be held and cuddled.

l follow my foster mom around and sometimes I bark if I can't find her but not too much or too long. I remind her when its time to eat- just in case she forgets- it works bc she's never late with my meals.

Everyone says I'm so easy to love and care for- so if you're looking for a best friend I think I could be a match for you- its worth a shot!

I have a lot of love to share and lots of happy days ahead- I'd love to spend them with you!
