Meet Dixie Carter

After years of living in a dark basement pen, it's Badass Dixie Carter's (available) turn in the sun! Rescued locally in Pennsylvania when her former owner landed in the hospital, Dixie previously had no access to other dogs, people, sunshine or nature. Now she's a Badass, and we've promised the best life. About 8 to 10 years old, Dixie's a testament to it never being too late. She's wasting no time turning things around: "Living in foster home as part of the family is like a dream come true. The bed's my favorite part. I give the sweet eyes so they'll let me sleep on those big comfy pillows. We snuggle in for a nap. Foster mom tells people that I snore the whole time that I sleep, but I think she’s just trying to put the blame on someone else...it’s totally her. The people are so nice; they give me a lot of attention and cookies and I’m into that kind of stuff. I feel like i’ve come a long way, but I feel like the right home is out there and waiting for me. I’m trying to be patient. I’d imagine the right home to have big, comfy couches on that I could snuggle up close to my owner and show them how much I appreciate them rescuing me. I wouldn’t mind a larger bed if they wouldn’t mind sharing it with me...I like to be tucked in under the covers. My foster mom said that I’m a good little spoon, and if that doesn’t catch you then I’ll be baffled...everyone loves a good little spoon! I am housebroken, crate and leash-trained and don’t mind sharing a home with cats; they don’t bother me so much. If I’m going to share my future home with another dog, I prefer it to be a smaller, calmer dog that won’t be too pushy. I like having friends, but I also appreciate my own space. I’m getting older now and would love to be somewhere where I can take it easy, and live a simple and loved life." Dixie weighs about 50 pounds is spayed, UTD on vaccinations, and microchipped. She's an easygoing senior and looking for a forever home where she can spend the rest of her days with this smile on her face. To foster or adopt, please visit our website at www.badassbk.com.
