Meet Dixie

Dixie is a very pretty Pittie girl who only weighs about 45 lbs. and is approximately 3 years of age. She was recently rescued from a high kill, southern shelter after being brought in as a stray. Dixie is described as full of spunk, athleticism and love! Dixie is a stunning blue pit who is super friendly, engaging and ready to go and do. A smaller framed girl who is loaded with personality and a desire to run and play and coax even those on the sidelines to get in on good times, Dixie is fun central. She did a good job in meeting other dogs during photo time and enjoyed running off leash and interacting with those who appreciated her silly, bowing down play style. Dixie has been spending the last few months in a foster home. This is what her foster mom has to say about her: "This girl is very friendly, good natured and just the right size for most laps. She likes to snuggle."
Additional notes from foster Mom:
She is beautiful and loveable
She enjoys the outdoors and adores tennis balls
She is young and fun
She is the perfect lap size around 40-45 lbs.
She knows basic commands: sit, down, paw, and other paw, wait and touch.
She sleeps quietly in a crate through the night
She has had no accidents in the house with regular potty breaks and keeps her crate neat when home alone
She enjoys playing with other dogs
Dixie already has a couple years of pet experience under her paws and would surely love to add even more working in YOUR home!"
Our Dixie is packing her bags in preparation for FINALLY taking her Freedom Ride and beginning the next part of her journey! We are unsure as to how Dixie might be with kitties but have asked to have her cat tested prior to transport. (UPDATE: Dixie's foster mom reported that she feels that a cat-free home would be best... so NO CATS for Dixie). Dixie is scheduled to arrive on transport on July 17th and we ARE taking applications for her now. She is already spayed, micro-chipped and current with vaccinations. She was recently treated for heartworm disease and she is on preventives. Dixie's suggested adoption donation is $325 in order to help the rescue recover some of the cost of vet bills. If you would like to foster or adopt Dixie when she arrives, please submit the adoption application through our website OneLifeToLiveRescue.com. After your application is reviewed and approved, a volunteer will contact you to answer any questions that you might have and to discuss our very popular Foster-to-Adopt option with you. Thank you for considering a beautiful, rescued Pit Bull Mix!!
Dixie has found her "forever" home. She was adopted today and will be spending the "happily-ever-after" part of her life in Hurley, NY. Her new name is "Luna".
