Meet DIVOT
Just as golfers sometimes leave a divot on the green, Divot is here to leave a lasting mark on your heart. Divot is a senior lab (approx 9-10 years) who was listed as a "stray" by the shelter he was rescued from. Despite this, he seems to have lived inside before as he is housebroken and knows several commands ("sit", "come", "down", and "outside") and was already neutered when he entered the shelter.
Divot absolutely loves to be around people and other dogs. He prefers not to be out of sight of his foster parents (or his doggy older-brother), and will hop up in your lap or curl up next to you at the slightest prompt. When resting, he likes to lay next to whomever is around. Divot is also the best bathroom door guard. He'll sit right outside the door, with his tail playfully sliding underneath, letting you know he's always nearby.
Divot doesn't really like his crate, although he is working on it. He has been left unsupervised in the house in lieu of crating, and he has not had any accidents or caused any damage.
Despite his age Divot is still very active and playful. He likes soft/squeaky toys and is always down for a game of fetch (although he will get distracted and forget about his toy while retrieving as he wants to come back for more petting rather than continue playing.) He enjoys long, sniff-ful walks, but he is still working on his leash manners. He also loves car-rides and does very well even on longer (1+ hour) trips.
Divot gets along well with other dogs, but might do better in a home as an only dog. He is sometimes so excited to play with other dogs he comes on a little strong and annoys them, so if he is going to a house with other dogs it would be good for them to be more dominant and willing to correct him when necessary. Divot did take a few days to fully settle in and get used to sharing a house with another dog, so it is also probably best if he is introduced slowly to other dogs. He has not been tested with cats or children
